MUSIC AT MONTREAL
When we first arrived at Maison Crème Anglaise many of our guests sat down at our piano in the grange to play. Often they were professional pianists or talented amateurs. Eventually, by popular demand we started holding small concerts. The money we raised with a ‘hat at the door’ we gave to the village for a Church lighting fund. However, in time our reputation grew, as so did our concerts, and at the bequest of the Mayor it was decided to form a charity which we called La Serinette. The premise of the charity is to support young people in the area in their musical studies. As well as helping pay for private music lessons, we organise school outings to musical/theatrical events, such as watching a rehearsal of Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’ at the Auditorium in Dijon.
We now regularly host choirs, musicians, artists etc who wish to enjoy the facilities at Maison Crème Anglaise and our adjoining cottages. We have a piano in each cottage and our baby grand in the grange. In the past few years we have been delighted to welcome Alan Fraser and his students for a week at Maison Crème Anglaise.
The Alan Fraser Institute offers a new dimension to a pianist’s piano playing and teaching. Alan empowers you to express your own ideas at the piano by focusing on technique, always linking it to musical structure.
